Kids in America Environmental Graphics Project
In my senior design studio, we were tasked with developing, designing, and animating a wall for the Keith and Catherine Stein Luminary at Boise State University. The Luminary is an all-digital museum space with touch-activated glass walls, 26K-lumen projectors, and 7.1 digital surround sound, creating immersive, interactive, and sensory experiences. Our class was split into three teams, each assigned a verse from “Kids in America” by Kim Wilde.
My team divided the lyrics into five lines and established key parameters such as size and colors. Each member interpreted a line from the song and designed an interactive graphic inspired by its theme. To me, the song represents the youth of America and celebrates the punk era of the 80s. My design features juvenile and grungy motifs, reflecting the lyric, “I can feel the heat but it’s soothing.”
